Condition Critical - defend research and teaching in medicine and health

13 November 2009

Amid mounting concern over cuts in medical training, research and health education across the UK, UCU is launching a campaign to defend these crucial areas of education.

Our 'Condition Critical' campaign will bring together the whole spectrum of health education professionals and students who are concerned about the future of medical training and provision in the UK.

As further job losses are threatened at some of the top medical schools in the country, the British Medical Association has warned that 'there will soon be insufficient staff to educate and train the UK's aspiring doctors'.

PLEASE NOTE: CHANGE OF LAUNCH DATE

We received a number of requests from potential speakers and supporters to postpone our Condition Critical event into the new year. Among the latest to sign the letter to Gordon Brown protesting about the impact of cuts across all fields of medical and health education and research is Claire Rayner. We will therefore canvass for a new date early next year at which to maximise our impact.

Thanks to everyone who has contacted us to indicate their interest and support so far. Watch this space for more soon!
