Staff to walk out over pay at Epping Forest College

16 May 2018

Members of UCU at Epping Forest College will walk out tomorrow in a row over pay.

Staff will be on picket lines from 8am outside the college campus on Borders Lane, Loughton.

UCU said that staff at Epping Forest College had seen pay fall by 25% in real terms since 2009.

The union said staff had had enough of seeing their pay held down and called on the college to address members' concerns as a matter of urgency.

UCU members at the college have already walked out for two days as part of the pay dispute. In the recent strike ballot, 100% of UCU members who voted backed strike action, on a turnout of 56.4%.

UCU regional official, Una O'Brien, said: 'Strike action is always a last resort, but staff at Epping Forest College clearly feel they have been left with no alternative having seen their pay held down for years.

'Staff have had enough and we hope strike action will focus the minds of college management and make them realise they must engage with UCU urgently to address members' concerns.'
