FE pay in England

16 June 2022

In England the vast majority of colleges are members of the Association of Colleges (AoC), an employers' organisation which negotiates with UCU and other recognised trade unions (UNISON, NEU, UNITE and GMB) in the National Joint Forum (NJF) to produce recommendations on pay and conditions for individual colleges to adopt.

Respect FE - no address Respect FE

Find out more about our 'Respect FE' campaign, which calls for action to address pay erosion and spiralling workloads as well as a demand for professional respect.

For more than a decade college staff have suffered below inflation pay rises and with the cost of living crisis now hitting hard, it's time for an increase in FE pay that keeps up with inflation and addresses the 35% real terms pay cut and the huge disparity with school teacher salaries.

Members in 119 UCU further education branches in England will now be balloted for action over their employer's failure to confirm that they will meet the demands outlined in the 2023/24 FE England joint union claim.
