Fight back for FE - vote now

4 October 2018

Once again I am writing to ask you, if you have not done so already, to take part in the UCU pay ballot by returning your vote in the envelope provided.

I'm sorry for once again adding to your overloaded inboxes but as the law now says we need at least a 50% turnout if we are to take action, I make no apologies for fighting for every vote.

I've argued that the situation in further education (FE) is completely unsustainable and that if the government really wants to ensure everyone can access the skills they need to get on in life, it must urgently invest in colleges and their staff. I have also repeatedly called on your employers to make a decent pay offer.

But if you've already heard enough from me then please listen to members like Alison here who states that colleges are the beating heart of the local economy in our cities and towns and passionately calls on you to join the FE fight back.

Please remember to use your vote and, if you can, join the Love Our Colleges march, rally and lobby of Parliament for FE funding on 17 October.

Thank you.

Sally Hunt
UCU general secretary
