Call to come clean on insecure employment

UCU general secretary Sally Hunt has called on universities to come clean on insecure employment practices in this week's Times Higher Education. 'This is not just a "union" issue' she writes, because 'the working conditions of teachers matter to our students too because the conditions the teacher works in are those in which the student learns.'

This comes as Kelvin Hopkins MP tabled an early day motion (EDM 1265) in parliament highlighting the issue of job insecurity in higher education.

We've also launched an excellent new function on our 'Rate for the Job' tool which allows hourly paid lecturers to check their pay.
