Lunchtime protest at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College

The college has announced up to 30 compulsory redundancies, alongside cuts to the total hours allotted to other jobs.

Union negotiators have had some success in reducing the number of threatened redundancies by arguing for other ways of making savings and the extension of a voluntary redundancy scheme. The college has blamed cuts to spending on further education, including the most recent £260m cut announced in last week's spending review.
