University and College Union annual congress 2013
23 April 2013
Defending education and protecting funding for the knowledge economy are key themes of this year's UCU annual congress, where delegates will be encouraged to promote the campaign for greater investment in education.
More information on the campaign can be found at: www.knowledgeeconomy.org.uk
How best to combat privatisation, reduce workloads and ensure greater transparency in colleges and universities are just some of the other issues to be debated by lecturers and academic-related staff from both further and higher education at the three-day conference.
From Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 May around 500 delegates will gather at the Brighton Centre for the event. More details on the motions up for discussion and a timetable of the event can be found at: www.ucu.org.uk/congress
On the Wednesday UCU members from further education will meet to discuss concern specific to their sector, as will the union's members in higher education. All UCU members will then join together on Thursday and Friday to debate the key issues across post-16 education.
The union will be providing regular updates from the event on its website at www.ucu.org.uk/congress and via Twitter at www.twitter.com/ucu
