UCU comments on A-level results
14 August 2008
UCU's general secretary has today responded to this year's A-level results.
Ahead of this year's A-level results released today UCU general secretary, Sally Hunt, said: 'Today should be a day for celebration for the thousands of pupils whose hard work over the last few years has been rewarded with excellent grades. Both pupils and teachers should be congratulated for all their hard work.
'It is unfortunate that pupils' achievements are likely once again to be overshadowed by doomsayers sniping from the sidelines with lazy rants about standards. Our current system is not perfect, but it is unacceptable that pupils' results and the hard work of staff in our schools and colleges is the subject of relentless and unmerited downplaying.'
