Funding and assessing research after 2008: 'the voice of the profession'

This major public policy conference held in October 2006 was organised by the University and College Union (UCU) to debate the future of research assessment and funding after the next RAE.

The key target audiences for the event were academics and related staff with a particular interest in research policy as well as representatives of external HE and research organisations.

The event critically examined the recent proposals to introduce a 'metrics-based' system and also explore alternatives to current orthodoxies.

Keynote speakers include Dr Jonathan Adams (Evidence UK), Dr Lisa Lucas (Bristol University) and Professor Roger Brown (Chair, Research and Teaching Forum).
