This course is aimed at UCU branch officers, equality officers, equality reps, and others in the branch who want to learn more about how to use equality legislation to tackle discrimination at work and how to develop and promote a branch based equality agenda.

Course meeting times:	9:30 am. to 4:00 pm.
Course time commitment:	15 - 18 hours.

Please be aware the closing date for applications for this course is 1st May 2025. Applications after this date risk not being accepted. Course content Aims of the course: understand the role of the UCU equality rep or equality officer ensure equality is embedded within the branch bargaining and organising agenda. find out more about discrimination legislation improve equality policies and agreements find out about good practice and share success stories promote equality in the workplace, branch and the union develop tools and techniques for raising equality issues develop equality networks sharpen negotiating skills.
UCU courses are funded via members' contributions and public funding.

When you apply for a course we will assume that are making a commitment to attend the course as advertised, and have secured time off from your employer. Please contact your branch/region if you are having problems securing time off.

Before you complete this form, please be aware: You may be asked to register with the delivering college in which your trade union tutor is employed. Where colleges are drawing down funding for delivery you will be ask for your passport or equivalent identification details to register. This is a demand of the college who are following government requirements in order to satisfy public funding criteria. This is not a requirement UCU want to see and we are lobbying for change. However, as it stands, if you do not register with the college, your place will not be fundable.

For UCU courses that attract central government funding, the delivering college will ask for your passport or other residency details to complete the college enrolment form. The college by law have to prove that they are funding appropriately. UCU have contacted colleges about this issue and are lobbying for change. As it stands however, if you cannot for whatever reason show the correct details when asked, UCU may be charged for your place, or the college will not accept you onto the course.
