This Wednesday: workplace day of action to call for peace

This Wednesday 7 February UCU is supporting the workplace day of action and protesting alongside thousands of workers across the United Kingdom to demand that our government calls for a permanent ceasefire and an end to the horrific scenes we are seeing daily in Gaza.

It would be powerful to see UCU members taking part. Get in touch with your branch to find out what protest activities have been arranged for your workplace.

Changing your Zoom/Teams background if teaching remotely, walking out at lunch, organising a joint teach-out with your students--any act, big or small, builds pressure on the government.

We have produced a range of resources for you to use on the day on our Ceasefire NOW! web page including a poster, a Zoom/Teams background and a social media profile picture.

I am proud that our union, called without any hesitation for a ceasefire and the return of all hostages from the start of this horrific period. We have consistently maintained this position, leading the trade union movement with this call.

I will continue to use every platform we have available to push for a ceasefire, an end to the siege on Gaza, and for the safe return of all hostages.
