Formal consultation on employers' proposals and announcing our reballot result

These past weeks UCU members, branches, and officials have been helping to shape the next steps in our higher education disputes.

Every level of the union has reached agreement that the proposal in the pension and pay disputes should go out to a full member consultation - this will commence on Tuesday 4 April 2023.   

Further details on the consultation and other decisions taken by the higher education committee (HEC) yesterday will follow soon. 

From the start of this dispute, we have sought the input of members across the union. It is absolutely crucial that when your vote arrives on Tuesday 4 April 2023 that you use it.  

Today [31 March 2023] our strike ballot in both our disputes closes, and I want to thank everyone for the hours of relentless work, the endless conversations, texts, phone calls, meetings, and emails. You have all shown the best of our union. 

We will be announcing the results on Monday 3 April 2023 both via an email and live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. We hope to be in a position to start this announcement at around 15:00. Please make sure to tune in and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
