Results of the informal member eballot on the proposals negotiated through Acas, which closed on 17 March 2023, and on the related votes from the Branch Delegate Meeting which was held on 16 March 2023.
Informal member eballot results
36,070 members in the disputes voted in the informal eballot which closed on Friday 17 March 2023.
The question they were asked was 'Do you support UCU members voting on the proposals that have been negotiated in both disputes, and pausing strike action (action short of a strike would continue) whilst this consultation takes place?'
The results are as follows:
YES: 24,281 (67.3%)
NO: 11,789 (32.7%)
Branch Delegate Meeting (BDM) results
Similar questions were put to the emergency BDM on Thursday 16 March 2023. They were asked whether the proposals agreed with the University and College Employers' Association and Universities UK should be put to members in a formal consultation:
- 52% were in favour of consulting members
- 32% were opposed to consulting members
- 16% abstained from the vote.
BDM attendees were also asked whether the action planned for 20, 21 and-22 March should be suspended:
- 70% were opposed to suspending the planned action
- 16% were in favour of suspending the planned action
- 14% abstained from the vote.
