UCU Rising: countdown to strike action

Time is running out to deliver the biggest ever picket lines in UCU history. 

Time is running out for us to show the employer how serious we are.

Time is running out for you to recruit new UCU members and convince every single colleague to join the picket line.

Yesterday was 14 days until the first day of strike action on 24 November. Today we launch our countdown, where each day UCU will provide a specific action, that we want you to do to build support locally. Next week we also launch join the union week. Your local reps have been sent packs of recruitment materials and would welcome help promoting the union in your workplace.

Every single thing we do from now on must be focused around four things:

• growing the pressure on the employers
• growing the picket lines
• growing the union 
• growing the solidarity.

Your role is to build on that in your workplace. So, the countdown is on. We are going to light up the trade union movement later this month. The ballot was different. The action will be different. The result will be different.

The longer the picket line, the shorter the dispute.
