Brutal crackdown in Iran condemned

The brutal crackdown on peaceful protests by Iranian authorities has been strongly condemned by UCU.
The crackdown has included the killing of children and violent attacks on student demonstrators. More than 200 people have been killed and many more injured and detained as a result of public outrage over the death of a young Kurdish Iranian woman, Mahsa (Jina) Amini on 16 September 2022.
UCU has also denounced the recent arrests of Iranian and international trade unionists as another attempt by the Iranian authorities to silence their internal critics.
