Further education unions submit pay claim for 2023/24

17 March 2023

The joint FE trade unions in England (GMB, NEU, UCU, Unison and Unite) have submitted our pay claim 2023/24 to the Association of Colleges (AoC) in advance of this year's pay negotiations, which start in April.

The claim is ambitious and radical in that it not only seeks a pay offer to address the cost-of-living crisis and the fall in the value of pay by around 35 % in recent years, but also seeks to address increasing levels of workload, as well as binding outcomes to national FE England negotiations and a Just Transition Commission for FE to deal with the climate crisis.

The joint unions consider the claim is timely and serious and requires the AoC to show leadership and to actively engage with college principals and the trade unions so staff can be properly rewarded and respected and develop meaningful bargaining that benefits all staff in FE.

You can read the full joint claim here. [327kb]

Look out for further updates as the negotiations progress.
