I am writing as a potential future constituent and as one of over 120,000 University and College Union (UCU) members to ask for your support to repair post-school education, starting with reviewing and sharing the UCU manifesto which you can read by accessing the link below:

On behalf of its members, UCU is calling upon the next government to: 
* improve pay and conditions across post-school education 
* implement stronger measures to tackle inequality 
* shift the cost of higher education from students to employers 
* close the pay gap between school and college teachers 
* roll back anti-trade union laws and abolish Ofsted inspections. 

The post-school sector, including adult and prison education, has suffered more than a decade of cuts and decline, with students and educators being negatively affected by course and department closures, increasing job losses and redundancies, and the widespread use of insecure work contracts. Growing shortages in teachers and concerns about the gradual erosion of UK higher education are directly linked to failed marketisation models, and a lack of investment to ensure that a fairer and more sustainable post-school education system can be maintained that has the interests of students and staff at its heart.  Now more than ever we need political leaders to listen and take urgent action to ensure everyone can access the high-quality education and secure work they need and deserve.

I would therefore ask you to help raise awareness of the impact of the issues affecting colleges, universities, adult education and prison education providers within [INSERT AREA NAME], and pay attention to UCU’s demands for the next government among parliamentarians and the local community not only during this election period, but increasingly upon the opening of parliament on 17 July 2024.
