UCU statement in support of Nita Sanghera

6 March 2019

UCU utterly condemns the racist abuse by the far right hate group Generation Identity against our  vice-president Nita Sanghera. Nita is a courageous and passionate campaigner against racism and her commitment to challenging racism and hate on our university and college spaces is impressive. UCU has a strong history of campaigning against racism and stands in solidarity with Nita and the campaigns of Stand Up to Racism.

Chair of the UCU National equality committee Dave Muritu said: 'I am proud to support and work with UCU's first black woman vice-president and condemn this vicious and racist attack. These attacks make our anti-racist work more urgent and more important than ever.'

Show your solidarity by attending the international day of action against racism demonstration on Saturday 16 March (London, Glasgow and Cardiff).
