UCU pay and equality ballot now open

15 January 2019 | last updated: 6 March 2019

The national pay and equality ballot is now open. Expect to receive your ballot paper over the next few days. It will look like this:

Your union has repeatedly called on university employers to work with us to tackle the gender pay gap, insecure contracts and excessive workloads, as well as to make an offer that seriously addresses the fall in value of your pay, which has dropped by 21% in real terms since 2009. Yet the employers refuse to properly address any of these issues nationally. If we want to change that it is vital that we win this ballot.

Under the anti-union laws we need a turnout of at least 50% before we can take action - this is why once again we are asking you to support your union by voting YES to strike action and YES to action short of a strike (ASOS).

Thank you.
