FE ballot results announced

UCU members in Welsh FE branches have voted to take action in ballots over pay and workload.

The ballots closed at noon on 19 October 2018. The response to the question members* were balloted on is as follows:

Trade dispute concerning the 2018/19 joint further education trade union pay claim - Wales

Are you prepared to take industrial action consisting of escalating strike action?

    Number of ballot papers returned: 1,255
    Number voting YES: 1,136  (90.5%)
    Number voting NO: 119  (9.5%)
    Number of papers found to be invalid: 1

Turnout: 52.3%

Are you prepared to take industrial action consisting of a strike?

    Number of ballot papers returned: 1,288
    Number voting YES: 1,160  (90.1%)
    Number voting NO: 128  (9.9%)
    Number of papers found to be invalid: 3

Turnout: 53.8%

UCU negotiators will be meeting ColegauCymru in the next couple of weeks to encourage them to reconsider their pay offer and re-start negotiations on workload.
