29 January 2016

The sentencing in Djibouti of Omar Ali Ewado, deputy general secretary of the Union of Primary School Teachers, to three months in prison follows relentless government harassment since December of last year.

UPDATE: Omar was released on 14 February after the appeal court dismissed all charges against him.  Education International and the Djibuti unions thank those who have issued protest letters, alerted their authorities and signed the LabourStart appeals (over 6400 signatures).
