Court lobby for Crichton

13 February 2007

On 14 February, staff and students from Crichton Campus and from Glasgow University will lobby members of the University Court to maintain the Glasgow University connection with Crichton.

The lobby will take place at 13.00, Gilbert Scott Building, University of Glasgow.

Members of Court will be asked to delay any final decision on the admission of new students until there has been a sufficient period of time for the exercise of political pressure to ensure adequate funding for sustained higher education provision in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Scottish Executive and the Scottish Funding Council have a responsibility to the people of Dumfries and Galloway to work seriously to resolve this appalling situation.

For Court to end admissions now will be seen as a premature action on the part of the university, and will almost certainly destroy any chance of a just outcome.
