Strikes suspended at Novus after Acas talks

19 August 2021

Novus UCU negotiators and branch committee have announced the suspension of strikes scheduled for next week after agreements were reached at Acas:

We are pleased to report that Acas negotiations with Novus/LTE management over the last few weeks have been productive, and we have made positive progress. As you will see from the attached joint statement [93kb], we have reached agreement on revised health & safety procedures and structures and other outstanding issues, with agreed reviews to ensure continued positive working relations in future. Most importantly, the agreements reached will enable UCU to collectively represent the health & safety of our members and keep you as safe as possible at work.

As a result of progress made UCU is suspending the strike action scheduled for next week (25, 26, and 27 August 2021) and that will no longer go ahead.

Your Lot Reps will arrange meetings of reps and members over the coming days and weeks to brief members on progress to date, on the new agreed meeting structures, and on agreed next steps.

The progress made through the Acas talks has been positive and is good news. This has only been possible because of your continued support and action through the dispute. It is only by members standing together and being resolute in their willingness to take further action, that we have been able to reach a point where we are now close to resolving the dispute.

Further meetings are planned with Acas in the near future, when we hope to be able to formally conclude the dispute.

Thanks again for your continued support, please try to attend forthcoming branch meetings, details of which will be circulated soon.

In solidarity

Novus UCU negotiators and branch committee
