Quality missing, says Inside Time

Inside Time, the national newspaper for prisoners and detainees, has reported that the prison education system is 'failing learners and failing staff' during the Covid-19 pandemic

'Quality missing', Insidetime June 2021 UCU bargaining and negotiations official Marianne Quick, told the newspaper that the prison service 'just weren't ready' when the pandemic struck and prison service officials who oversee the contracted education providers showed little interest in the content of stopgap measures introduced to keep prisoners occupied. 'They weren't looking for educational quality in what was being produced, it was the quantity,' she said.
