Green New deal bargaining: 2, 9, 16 February 2021, Online, (National course)

This course is for all Green reps along with those in the branch who are interested in bargaining around environmental issues. The course will help reps navigate UCU Green New Deal bargaining advice and enable you to work on a potential claim to the employer.

Course meeting dates: 2nd 9th & 16th February 2021

Course meeting times: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Total course duration: Approx. 12 - 15 hours in total 

Venue: Online

Please ensure you can attend the entire course prior to submitting your application form. Please further ensure you have secured time off from your employer to attend.

We recommend that you take your facility time on the same day as your course meeting. This will allow you to do complete the course activities, and to contact the tutor/attend the course de-brief where offered.

As part of this course you will need to register with the delivering college for whom our trade union education tutors work. In some colleges you may be asked to use your passport or equivalent form of ID to register. 

More about the course:

The course will be taught via a mixture of a virtual course meeting, group activities some outside of the course meeting, and individual discussion with the course tutor if needed.

  • Explain why climate justice is a Trade Union issue 

  • Prepare a Green New Deal (GND) claim 

  • Build UCU locally  - how to get members fully involved

  • Strengthen links with other unions, students and wider community 

  • Campaigning around your green new deal claim  

You will be asked to register with the delivering college in which your trade union tutor is employed. Some colleges may ask for your passport or equivalent identification details to register. UCU are working to limit these asks, but as it stands, if you do not register with the college you will be unable to join the course.

Your email address will be sent to the TUC on who's learning platform the course is situated. You will receive a course link from which you will log in to find your introductory activities and meet your course tutor.
