1. Anghydfodau ynglŷn â chyflog a chydraddoldeb Addysg Uwch a Chynllun Pensiynau'r Prifysgolion: Annog pobl i bleidleisio

Dim ond pythefnos sydd ar ôl i bleidleisio ym mhleidleisiau cenedlaethol UCU ar gyflog a phensiynau, cyn y dyddiad cau ar 30 Hydref. Gwnewch bopeth y gallwch er mwyn annog pobl i bleidleisio a rhowch wybod sut mae pethau'n mynd gyda chi. Mae llawer o waith i annog pobl i bleidleisio wedi bod yn mynd rhagddo ym Mhrifysgolion Bangor, Abertawe a Chaerdydd ac ymunodd staff o Swyddfa UCU Cymru â nhw i ganfasio ac annog aelodau i bleidleisio. Er bod amser yn gyfyngedig, os hoffai eich cangen gael rhywun i ddod i helpu, byddwn yn gwneud ein gorau i anfon rhywun atoch. Anfonwch e-bost at Phil Markham yma. Mae'n hollbwysig bod 50% o aelodau yn pleidleisio.  Gweithredwch dros addysg a bargen deg i staff AU drwy bleidleisio IE i gamau gweithredu ac IE i gamau gweithredu nad ydynt yn cynnwys streic, gan ddangos i'r cyflogwyr ein bod ni'n barod i leisio'n barn. Os nad ydych wedi derbyn eich papur pleidleisio eto, gallwch archebu un drwy glicio ar y ddolen yma.

2. Diweddariad ar yr Anghydfod ynghylch Llwyth Gwaith Addysg Bellach

Cyfarfu Pwyllgor y Sector Addysg Bellach ddydd Sadwrn 12 Hydref a phenderfynodd dynnu'n ôl o'r anghydfod presennol ynghylch llwyth gwaith a chafodd llythyr ei anfon at y cyflogwyr ar y 14eg yn esbonio'r penderfyniad. Y rhesymeg dros y penderfyniad hwnnw oedd bod Colegau Cymru wedi gwrthod llofnodi llythyr ar y cyd ar yr anghydfod ynghylch llwyth gwaith yn annog Llywodraeth Cymru i ddefnyddio symiau canlyniadol Barnett (arian ychwanegol sy'n cael ei roi i Gymru o ganlyniad i gyhoeddiad Johnson ynglŷn â 4400miliwn ychwanegol ar gyfer addysg bellach yn Lloegr.) Mae'r llythyr bellach wedi'i anfon gan UCU. Mae tynnu'n ôl o'r anghydfod presennol yn ein galluogi i gofrestru anghydfod newydd, y tro hwn gyda'n cydweithwyr yn yr undebau academaidd eraill a gaiff eu cydnabod yn y colegau addysg bellach yng Nghymru.

3. Partneriaeth Cymorth Addysg - Cymorth a Chyngor Ariannol

In today's email:

  1. HE pay and equality and USS disputes: GTVO

  2. Update on FE workload dispute

  3. Education Support Partnership - financial support and advice

  4. UCU black, asian and minority ethnic HE & FE staff survey reminder

1. HE pay and equality and USS disputes: GTVO

There are only two weeks remaining to vote in the UCU national ballots on pay and pensions, before the deadline closes on 30 October. Please do everything you can do GTVO and let us know how you are doing with this. There has been a great deal of GTVO activity in Bangor, Swansea and Cardiff Universities who were joined by staff from the Wales UCU Office to canvass and encourage members to vote. Although time is limited if your branch would like someone to come and help out, we will do our best to send someone along. Email Phil Markham. It is of paramount importance that a 50% turnout is achieved in the ballots. Please stand up for education and a fair deal for HE staff by voting YES for action and YES to action short of a strike and show the employers we are prepared to stand up and be counted. If you haven't received your ballot yet then you can order one by clicking on the following link: here.

2. Update on FE workload dispute

The further education sector committee (FESC) met on Saturday 12 October and decided to withdraw from the current dispute on workload and a letter went to the employers on 14 October explaining that decision. The rationale for that decision was that Colegau Cymru refused to sign a joint letter on the workload dispute encouraging the Welsh Government to use the Barnett consequential (additional money being given to Wales as a consequence of the Johnson announcement for an extra 4400m for FE in England). The letter has now been sent from UCU. Withdrawing from the current dispute allows us to register a new dispute, this time with our colleagues in the other academic unions recognised in the FE colleges in Wales.

3. Education Support Partnership - financial support and advice

The Education Support Partnership can provide grants to people working in education that are experiencing financial difficulties. It offers confidential advice and support to people in work or retired from the education sector who are suffering financial problems caused by unemployment, ill health, sudden life events, bereavement or a personal injury. The grants service aims to assist people to manage and address their financial and money concerns. To find out more please email or visit the website.

4. UCU black, asian and minority ethnic HE & FE staff survey reminder

UCU is conducting a survey to collate the views of our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic members regarding their experience in the workplace. The closing date for the survey is this Friday 25 October. If you have received the survey please make every effort to complete it. If, however, you have not received it or have any queries please get in touch with Christopher Nicholas.
